Nice head's up Kevin - I feel much the same way about this show, it was
never great, but it was comfort tv then, and nostalgic now. I see MWMD is
not on hulu, so I downloaded the freebie from itunes and will save it for a
rainy day.

My memory is that Welby overlapped with Medical Center, and these were the
last two medical shows I ever watched. I am not sure why, but the doctor
shows that came after have never held any interest for me. I regret missing
out on St Elsewhere because of this, but not much else. My wife likes House
(I have never seen a single episode) - I will probably catch up with it on
DVD one summer.

I liked Owen Marshal (Counselor at Law), which was Marcus Welby in a
courtroom, better. Did OM begin as a spin-off from Welby? I can't remember
the specifics, but I am pretty sure they had some kind of crossover. My TV
career hit a crossroads at this point - I have hardly missed a lawyer show
since Owen, and never seen a doctor show since Welby. This is probably
something of a coincidence - my real love of lawyer shows came from my
mother, who loved the Defenders (I have a vague memory of watching that with
her - or maybe it was reruns?) and the lawyer version of the Bold Ones, as
well as a short lived show called something like Storefront Lawyers.
