And he can't rely on any notes or evidence he was using to blackmail
Dave because the court ordered him to hand over the all the evidence
to his lawyer who was then supposed to give it to the court to be
destroyed.

So if he finds somebody to take his book, he only has his memory and
no true facts to use.

Maybe...and who is going to publish the book from a convicted
blackmailer?
