I just read this seconds before you posted it. My admiration of
Sorkin's skills is limitless, but suggesting actors ignore cameras and
microphones is like suggesting moths not eat your socks. It is what
they do.

I've maintained it would take a massive dark tragedy to turn the
public away from the tabloids and gossip-based websites. The OJ
Simpson trial was, for lack of a better word, theater, so it didn't do
the job. When a well-known actor snaps and goes off on a killing
spree, targeting pregnant women or defenseless babies, maybe the
public will finally be disgusted. When a well-known singer snaps and
starts videotaping themselves molesting little boys, maybe the public
will finally turn away. When a powerful politician snaps and orders
the death of thousands of people because opinion polls told him it
would be a good idea, maybe the public will bear some of the guilt. Or
maybe it will all just add more fuel to the fire.

In any event, celebrities won't be the ones to change the condition of
the media.
