I just read this seconds before you posted it. My admiration of Sorkin's skills is limitless, but suggesting actors ignore cameras and microphones is like suggesting moths not eat your socks. It is what they do.
I've maintained it would take a massive dark tragedy to turn the public away from the tabloids and gossip-based websites. The OJ Simpson trial was, for lack of a better word, theater, so it didn't do the job. When a well-known actor snaps and goes off on a killing spree, targeting pregnant women or defenseless babies, maybe the public will finally be disgusted. When a well-known singer snaps and starts videotaping themselves molesting little boys, maybe the public will finally turn away. When a powerful politician snaps and orders the death of thousands of people because opinion polls told him it would be a good idea, maybe the public will bear some of the guilt. Or maybe it will all just add more fuel to the fire. In any event, celebrities won't be the ones to change the condition of the media. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- TV or Not TV ....
