The mystery was resolved poorly with little build up about who the bad guy was going to be except internet reports that the actor was leaving the show. Since then, Emily Deschanel's Brennan has become very dislikable, the procedural aspect got worse and last year's season finale (which I sort of liked) enraged the fan base for all being a dream of a comatose Booth (David Boreanaz). This season was average at best, usually DVR'd and watched Sunday mornings doing laundry. If they're resetting the characters, influenced by the year time jump, maybe that will help.
