The veteran White House correspondent, 89, is ending her column for
the Hearst newspapers after video cameras caught her making a remark
that Jews should leave Palestine and "go back to Germany"--she was
reprimanded by WH press secretary Robert Gibbs and the White House
Correspondents Association had threatened to rescind her long-time
front row seat at press conferences:

Thomas had covered the WH for every President since JFK, mostly for
UPI--when Pat Robertson took over the wire service (one of a long
series of owners--he doesn't own it now), she left them and started
her column for Hearst, where she had become more outstpoken in recent
years. The fact that the teabagger blogs are celebrating will tell
you where she fell on the political map.
