On a night where the biggest noise went to the impressive premiere of a young
pitcher across town (and Carol King and , O'Brian and company came in and did
their best to blow the roof off Constitution Hall. No special guests onstage,
and I think nothing that hasn't already been shown at another tour stop, since
the gang has three shows left. The ex-Chief did a good, lengthy piece on the
Kansas City stop, so go visit the Barn and read it if you'd like to catch up.
I had a good seat, except for when the strobe light was used, as it was aimed
right at me. I had an excellent angle on all the tech arranging the big
inflatable they use (still don't feel like spoiling), and was probably 50 feet
from 'Loveman' Pender.
It has been heavily rumored that Senator Franken was in the audience (nowhere
near my section, AFAIK), and he may have popped backstage for a minute.
I'm glad I managed to snag a ticket (a bunch in 'obstructed view' were released
in the last few days), as, regrettably, I don't see much of the new kind of
stuff they're doing on the road making it into the TBS show. I'd love to be
wrong, but I just don't see a late night band taking a more active role in a
show, at least for reasons of rights clearances. I mean, if The Roots can't
get extra air time, I don't see whatever the LPB calls itself at TBS doing any
better.
