As the big pubradio network continues its enhanced digital presence (to the consternation of paranoid member stations who are afraid of eventually losing that pledge money to the home office in Washington), it has officially shortened its name to its initials:
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/07/07/AR2010070704578.html Knowing how cavalier the Magliozzis have treated the network ID over the years ("and even though Nina Totenberg noticeably winces every time we say this, this is NPR..."), I would've liked to have heard some of their recent IDs on "Car Talk" with the new shortened name. And the Post story linked above has 87 comments--I don't even have to look at them to know that most of them are either from teabaggers who think NPR's a bunch of Commies or Amy Goodman fans who think it's a pawn of evil corporate capitalist AmeriKKKa as much as the rest of the "corporate media" and that only "Democracy Now!" tells the truth. -- TV or Not TV ....
