I understand that Carey might've thought of that. I'm not thrilled with Carey, but I understand that.
But Fingers has been on that show for the better part of forever. She should know better. It's not a "human" question, it's a "being a professional" question. And that was shamefully unprofessional. If she really, honest-and-for-true thought the fix was in, she should've called in S&P. The article doesn't mention that the delay was (as I read it later) for nearly 45 minutes: more than enough time to get someone from security over to figure out what was going on. "I didn't think it would air" is as utter bullshit an excuse as dropping an expletive during a live feed and saying "I didn't think we were live" afterwards. Effectively, TPIR wants to have it both ways: they want to have the audience involved and participating, but when something unbelievable happens, they want to wash their hands.
