For those who missed it, Robert Llewellyn announced that his weekly video podcast "Carpool" has been sold to the UK channel Dave. New episodes are slated to appear on the network in October.
For those who haven't seen it, the entire back catalog is available on iTunes (link below). Llewellyn chauffeurs someone around in his (borrowed) Toyota Prius, and they have a conversation. And unlike similar podcasts like "Kevin Pollak's Chat Show," "Carpool" really does feature conversations rather than interviews. Some are political or topical, others are comedic and odd. Most are -- well -- a hybrid. http://itunes.apple.com/us/podcast/robert-llewellyns-carpool/id302529378 Llewellyn promises that online viewers will eventually see the full versions of "Carpool" just as they have been for more than a year, though I'd guess there will be a delay between its broadcast on Dave and its availability online. In any event, it is nice to see the gentle art of conversation find its way back to broadcast TV, albeit in an unconventional way. And with any luck, Llewellyn will be able to borrow the cameras and equipment used by "Top Gear" or at least adopt similar technology, because the technical quality of some of the podcasts has been wretched. -- Kevin M.
