They arrived in our small town in Nebraska a few years ago for a
military funeral. The Freedom Riders did an incredible job to keep the
nonsense away. I drove through with my daughter, who would have been
10 or 11 at the time, to show her the events and explain the hatred.
At 15, she still talks about it...so i think I made the right decision
back then. While she maintains her Christianity (and I don't), she
does it in a way that is non-judgmental and very respectful.

I think the more we explain the hatred of others to our youth, and not
hide it from them, the less significant these tanks of feces will be.
