There's the problem. The people who get excited about seeing "Sherlock Holmes" will likely become angry at how he's been changed. They could do the same series, but call the protagonists Joe Smith and Fred Jones, and it would evoke Holmes without offending any purists. Similarly, the new Hawaii Five-O could be the greatest series ever set in Hawaii, but those of us who remember the old series fondly will be too busy grumbling about how "that's not McGarrett" to appreciate it. -- TV or Not TV ....
