I will bow to Kevin on this, since I think he has followed the Kevin Pollak Chatshow pdocast more closely than I have (I have probably listened to about 75% of them), but I think Pollack has just finished the best 2 month period he has ever had. I have not yet listened to yesterday's show with John Slattery because I want to see the first episode of the new season of Mad Men first*,* but I am going to assume it was pretty good, since Pollak is a huge MM freak. On May 30 (ep #51) he had a fantastic interview with the great Martin Mull. I have not yet heard this show with Alan Zweibel, though I assume that was pretty interesting. He did a really good show with Craig Fergusun (#53), then Paul Rudd (which should have been great, but for me was a bit of a disappointment), then had what I thought was his best interview ever with J.K. Simmons a couple of weeks ago.
Then last week he interviewed Rob Riggle (the reason for the subject header). I was of course familiar with the basics of his biography, but had never heard the actual details, and they are amazing. Pollak never really asked him why he left TDS (though, as we have heard from previous guests, Riggle did note that TDS really does not pay that much, so it may just be that when most of these guys get enough attention to get even reasonably well paying gigs somewhere else, that is what they do (I wonder if they are paying Oliver some kind of bonus to keep him longer - or contemplating some kind of spin-off for him, or promised him to take over as host when the music stops on the next round of musical late night hosts?). As Kevin has done here multiple times, I continue to recommend Pollak's podcast, and at the very least, try to catch the last two with Simmons and Riggle. -- TV or Not TV ....
