The 80's weren't particularly kind to the Who theme either - starting with the overly 'disco' redux for Baker/Davison, all the way through the odd orchestration and 'space popcorn' Sly McCoy open.
I was initially unsure about the current (series 31/"season 5"/11th Doctor) theme, but it grew on me as the series went along. (Also, notice that it's one of the few variations of the theme where the intro goes UP to meet the main theme, rather than the other way around?) The original version (and the first Tom Baker version) still resonate for me, but I've become attached to the second version of 10's theme (series 29 & 30/"seasons 3 & 4"/the Martha & Donna series, if you track by companion) and 11's theme.
