Okay, it's almost July 31st - so you knew this was coming. Indulge me, if
you will, as if I were your doddering, elderly grandparent or next door
neighbor.

With only one major market exception (Boston!), it looks like the special
has been picked up by PBS stations throughout the country for airing during
prime time. I've watched the DVD premium BTW, and the sound and picture
quality are first-rate.

If you were planning to donate to your local PBS station anyway, do me a
favor and donate when the special is aired in your market. If you want to
know when it will air in your market, I can easily obtain that info.

Nothing of interest yet in this post?

Okay, this may be of interest.

As you know, I was in the audience when it was filmed on March 12th. (BTW I
can be seen at the end of the last number.) Although HWCNBN sang flawlessly
for nearly two hours, there were two of what I would call "wobbles" - not
bad notes or anything, just little wobbles. Frankly, I quite like the
wobbles because to me, at least, they enhance the live performance
experience.

However, the wobbles are gone in the live airing. I know this because I've
seen a DVD of the Chicago airing. (I won't tell you why I remember the
wobbles, though!)

So, what does that tell us? Not that HWCNBN needed a touch up (he didn't),
but that other artists we're hearing on PBS, etc., including those heard
this week performing at the White House undoubtedly got a touch up for the
airing of their shows on PBS. So, don't believe everyone sings perfectly
when they're on TV. Because they don't.
