Not my P, ESPN's. I was watching Dan Partrick's radio show on DirecTV the other day when David Feherty said a British tabloid was under an injunction to not publish embarrassing pictures of Colin Montgomerie, a married professional golfer who admitted to having an affair earlier this year (shocking I know, since from the media coverage one would think that Tiger Woods is the only married man in the world who has ever done that).
Patrick and his staff often joke about employees of ESPN not being allowed to mention his name or program. I have always assumed it was just that - a joke. I read this afternoon though the following on espn.com: http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/rydercup10/news/story?id=5456030 "European Ryder Cup captain Colin Montgomerie<http://sports.espn.go.com/golf/players/profile?playerId=313>dismissed allegations about his personal life that came to light on a nationally syndicated radio show that featured CBS-TV analyst David Feherty." Nowhere in the rest of the story does it identify the "nationally syndicated radio show" as the Dan Patrick Show. That just seems really silly and unclassy of the worldwide leader. I only caught about 30 minutes of the DPS this morning, and maybe they referenced it there. I never went to journalism school, but aren't you supposed to credit your sources, even if they are competitors? On another but related front, the pimp ESPN did business with earlier this summer got into a bru ha ha today with Ryder Cup Captain Corey Pavin. That's a shame... -- TV or Not TV ....
