I am attempting to transfer a PBS documentary I've converted from an old VHS to lovely (space saving) digital. I'm using iMovie on a Mac with an Intel processor and 2GB of RAM. Now accepting guesses as to how long it will take to render the 1 hr 47 min video. A three minute video usually takes about 15 minutes to render, but I've learned the ratio isn't static (a six minute video does not take 30 minutes... usually closer to 22 or 23). Any guesses?
I'm guessing apx. 14 hours. Regardless, my laptop's fan is going to be whirring through the night. For the record, it is a 1991 video entitled "America With The Top Down" and was an amusing cross-country road trip from North Dakota to Texas, stopping off at everything from reservations to tourist attractions (Carhenge is my favorite). -- Kevin M.
