I have never been able to figure this out. While I never liked Kara DioGuardi, I was able to detect that often she was trying to make a specific point that contributed something to how a song should be sung or appreciated to be successful in the pop market. For all of his shtick, Simon was the one who consistently gave the most useful information, and I am not sure that anyone they have been thinking about can come close (most likely IMO is Harry Connick Jr, who was the most interesting coach last year and really seemed to have some specific ideas). -- TV or Not TV ....
