But I think Finke is not giving the devil his due. Zucker's position is that he made money for his company, and if he had to run the NBC network into the garbage heap to do it, so be it. He is saying that he may have sucked at protecting the NBC television brand, but he was a genius at growing the revenue and profit of the larger company. If 10 years from now nobody gives a shit about network broadcast programming, but everyone is scarfing up on multiple platforms programming from Comcast, then I guess people will look back and see him as a big success. He is an asshole for the way he treated people, and the way he covered his own ass and blamed everyone else for his mistakes. I think he is also an asshole for giving up so easily on the network broadcast model - and even if he later seems to be proven right, I will suspect it was only because his actions helped cause (or at least did nothing to prevent) the decline of broadcast networks that he predicted. -- TV or Not TV ....
