They'd already been getting reaction shots from her throughout the show. She was also sitting in the front row near the judges' table, so a lot of people in the hall knew she was there. Also, under "Dancing" protocol, they don't cue boos on 8 scores, unless it's Bruno giving an 8 when Carrie Ann and Len have given 10s. There was also enough of a separation between the score announcement and the boos (in fact, right about when Burke was going into the wrapup and toss to Bergeron) that the audience was seeing Tom walk over and Palin stand up as if he was going to talk to her to set off the boos. We'll probably never know for sure, unless somebody was there to ask the people leaving the studio if they booed her. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
