[I don't know what "epic fail" means, but my son says it all the time and then rolls his eyes when I ask him]
This is the part of the year I have been waiting for since NBC replaced Conan with Leno. Last year, Dave got a big bump the week he announced he was being extorted, Leno's 10:00 pm ratings started to fall, and Conan's ratings began to fall, often losing or tying with Dave. I have been expecting that Leno would open up a significant lead over the year-to-date comparison with Conan around this time of the TV season - but instead he has gone the other way. Leno has tied or lost to Conan each of the last three weeks - and actually has only done better than Conan on the YTD comparisons once since he returned to the Tonight Show desk (these are numbers in the demo). To make matters worse, last week Leno tied with Dave. Dave seems to really benefit from CBS's primetime ratings advantage (he improves more Fall to Summer than Leno). But as we know, Leno has a better primetime lead in than Conan did, and Leno is still doing worse than Conan. I still expect Leno to start improving vs Conan, as we get to the part of the year where Leno's 10:00 pm ratings really started to crater. Still, I think we now have enough data to make it obvious to everyone what a bunch of lying assholes Leno, Zucker and the rest of the NBC mafia were last year when they argued that they had no choice but to replace Conan with Leno because Conan's ratings were so low. Oh, right. Everybody already knew that... See: http://tvbythenumbers.com/2010/10/15/jay-leno%E2%80%99s-tonight-show-ratings-stay-below-conans/68060 -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
