"Scrubs" was one of few one-camera sitcoms that came up with a decent
justification for its live episode. I doubt I'll ever see the 30 Rock
live episode (east or west coast feed), but the consensus seems to be
that it didn't help the show and they really didn't take advantage of
the format.

I think they got too bogged down in the religion stuff (through the
main female lead) at a time when it wasn't popular to talk about it.
They tried to bring the show's focus back during the excellent "Nevada
Day" episodes with John Goodman (which really served as a second pilot
episode -- and an even better one than the original pilot that the
critics adored), but by then they were living on borrowed time.
