But I think you might be overemphasizing their dissing of ST. Indeed, in the article you link to Moore notes that the main reason they wanted to zig where Trek zagged was because Trek had done those things so well and so long, and they didn't just want to be another pale imitation. In many ways BG was more scientific than Trek - what they did more (not completely of course) was avoid magical future science solutions to the practical problems of living and traveling in space. But the commentaries on BG all full of them saying "or on ST we did this, or I always wanted to try that but they wouldn't let me", so I think it is pretty clear that the ghost of ST was never too far from the BG set. I liked both ST:NG and BG, so I guess I like Moore's writing and creative decision making. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
