A blog in Marie Claire has brought the fat debate back to the world of
television. As we do every year, we have to ask what it means to be
fat, what should be considered a realistic/healthy body type, and why
whatever that realistic ideal is, it isn't represented on television.
I've always been of the mindset that the photographers and lighting
designers who work for Maxim and FHM can make nearly any body type
look good in a lace bra and panties. However, having met several of
what Hollywood considers beautiful, the reality is that most of them
are scrawny little twigs that I'd be afraid of snapping in half in a
moment of passion. Women are supposed to have curves, their legs are
supposed to have definition, and their ribcage should not be visible.
