The promos I saw tended to revolve around the fellow with the inferiority 
complex branding his own butt.  Perhaps I tuned out at that point?

The promos they were showing incessantly during the baseball playoffs did 
indicate it was set in the '80s.  "We're supposed to go over to the computer 
center and see the future of communication...something called 'electronic 
mail.'"  (And I know there were a couple where the narration specifically 
mentioned the '80s.)
