Anybody catch the premier episode of "The Walking Dead" on AMC last night? I'm not usually one for horror, but I was intrigued enough by the promos to watch the first episode, and I must say I was very impressed. Lots of explicit gore, but you really can't get around that, considering the genre. The first episode wasted a lot of time on background exposition (but you can really avoid that in a first episode, either) but the writing and acting seem first-rate. Interestingly, most of the show (so far) is set in daylight, which restricts the amount of boogeyman-in-the-shadows tricks, but there were several scenes that gave me that throat-tightening sensation of "oh, man...what's around *this* corner?"
I'm definitely tuning in next week.
