And this is the very pickle MSNBC walked right into in trying to play both
sides. (This is a news network. No, this is a counter to Fox News and the
conservative media.) Apparently everybody BUT NBC News realized that
Countdown was more an advocacy and opinion program rather than a news
program. Though given how he would criticize Fox News for giving a platform
to conservatives almost exclusively, I guess the crew over there are feeling
a little bit of schadenfreude over this.

It's beening reported to the NYTimes ( http://goo.gl/mcKuW ) that they don't
want to fire him, and given how he is the face of MSNBC and its highest
rated personality, they're probably stuck. They'll probably keep him off the
air for the month and again remind him that he can't donate to candidates.
Though the Libertarian magazine Reason has published a defense of him (
http://goo.gl/ks43k --  well, as their ideology, they would argue that
anybody and everybody, every group and every company should be able to spend
money to promote candidates and positions -- no limits).
