It is Monday morning, 9:25 AM ET as I type this. I just looked up on my commuter bus to see that CNN is showing as a news story the Wheel Of Fortune episode from Friday in which a contestant solved a puzzle off of one filled in letter (plus a letter not in the puzzle)
Set aside the argument as how barely this qualifies as news. The video of the puzzle solve they used was pulled off YouTube. And it wasn't just any video, it was hand shot by someone holding a camcorder in front of a screen. I've already, within about three seconds, found a better quality video on YouTube pulled straight from a source file. Plus, I'm sure CBS Syndication would've been very happy to supply the high quality video without any problem. But that might've required a phone call, and who the hell has time for that? Over the weekend, I was talking with my stepfather about KO and MSNBC and all the stuff we've been mentioning around here. And the subject of CNN being "neutral" came up and how that shows that "neutral" doesn't work. I said, "I'm subjected to three hours of CNN every weekday and lemme tell you: it ain't that it's 'neutral,' it's that it's just awful." Thanks to Atlanta for proving my point.
