In the original Hawaii Five-0 Steve McGarrett lives on 404 Piikoi Street in Honolulu (as per Steve in an episode near the end of Season 1). I noticed this earlier this fall when I watched the first season to get in the mood for the reboot, and noted it in case they mentioned his address in the new show. I am not super familiar with the area, but my wife is from Hawaii and went to high school in Honolulu, and we have gone back fairly often. 404 Piikoi street is a few blocks from the Ala Moana Park, across the street from the Ala Moana Center. I know this area, (pretty much any tourist probably does) and it is not residential (I doubt it was at the time of the original either).
In this week's 5-0 they give Steve's address as 2727 Piikoi Street, about 1.4 miles north, which is near Makiki cemetery. It was nice that they kepy him on Piikoi street. I don't think they were entirely geographically consistent - the establishing shot suggests that he is on the beach somehow (at least there is water and sand almost in his backyard) but the ocean is a couple of miles away. Also, Steve takes his team to his house after a shootout, which he reports to HPD occured on Mokulua Dr. This is in Kailua (unless there is another part of this road closer to Waikiki, but I can't find it on the map. Steve tells Dan-O he took them to his house because it was the closest, safest place he knows, but it is 14 miles and 30 minutes over a twisting, mountain road - maybe not the most likely route with a bunch of bad guys chasing you. A little google-ing reveals now that the 404 address was the production office for the original show.
