FWIW, SCG's show is slated to start broadcasting in Australia early next year. And if you catch a few of his Tweets and E-Mails segments, there are usually a few read from overseas. I don't know if CBS/Worldwide Pants had been really pursuing international opportunities, but there are hints it's not that crazy of an idea.
And The Daily Show is broadcast internationally as a compilation of the week's shows. But why not? Since the technology allows it, isn't it better to have a world-wide audience for your products? What good does it make to you if your show is broadcasted only on USA (which means you get paid once, syndication excluded) meanwhile half the rest of the planet watches it through BitTorrent? OK, this point is mainly for popular series (Lost etc) where by the time a foreign TV station buys the rights to local broadcast, most of the fans (the most *devoted* ones) have already watched it via ways that do not bring money back to the producers. But even for shows like Conan or CF where there is a lot of content that does not appeal to foreigners, what harm could it cause to the producers if they licensed out a "best-of-week" episode that concentrates on the more "universal" topics? -- TV or Not TV ....
