The lefty non-com station group known for its eternal internal squabbles (right now, its SF market flagship KPFA is in a dither over firings of its morning drive show hosts and producer and a war between the CWA union and lunatic fringe radicals who want the station to be 100% volunteer, calling the union personnel "Paul Wellstone Democrats") will begin airing the soundtrack of a news hour from the TV net Al Jazeera English over the next month or so, starting next week at KPFA, WBAI in NY and KPFT in Houston (and planning to offer the program to other stations, such as it does for "Democracy Now!"):
http://www.washingtonpost.com/wp-dyn/content/article/2010/12/06/AR2010120606561.html AJE has tried to get cable carriage in the U.S., but because of the reputation of its Arabic language sister channel has largely failed-- some stations pick up odd hours from the net and MHz Networks' WorldView turnkey digital channel carried by many PTV stations airs AJE programming as part of its lineup of English-language newscasts from around the world and other foreign programming. -- TV or Not TV ....
