Sometimes I think contract negotiations are just a cheap marketing
gimmick to give undeserving people the spotlight. Like him or lump
him, Stern is a has-been and sat. radio is a fabulous place for he and
his cult-of-personality. He and the eight people who subscribe to the
service can enjoy their little intimate chat while other, more
entertaining people are on terrestrial radio or podcasting. Anyone
willing to pay Stern money to keep him out of earshot is actually
doing the nation a public service. I'm glad he and Dr. Laura will both
be sitting in their little studios where I will never, ever hear them
again. Can I suggest we do the same with Phil McGraw, Oprah Winfrey,
Jeff Toobin, and everyone who has ever appeared on American Idol?
Seriously, how awesome would that be if we never heard from any of
those folks again?
