After last year's campaign to get an old Rage Against the Machine song onto the UK charts and at number 1 by Christmas weekend to keep the first single from the winner of "The X Factor" out of the top spot was surprisingly successful, an all-star group of pop and rock musicians have formed Cage Against the Machine and "recorded" American avant- garde composer John Cage's infamous "4'33"", which consists in its entirety of 4 minutes and 33 seconds of silence, to keep this year's "X Factor" winner out of number 1 Christmas weekend (and for charity):

"X Factor"'s finale, which traditionally draws the UK equivalent of Super Bowl ratings, airs this Saturday night and one wonders if this can be pulled off two years in a row. One also wonders if similar stunts will be tried when Simon Cowell brings "X Factor" to the U.S. next fall on Fox. -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
