The X Factor finished up last weekend.  Winner Matt Cardle is on top
with the mid-week chart update, a precursor to what will be the
Christmas number 1.

However, The Trashmen's "Surfin' Bird" - this year's Rage Against the
Machine song - isn't far behind at number 3.

Cage Against the Machine is coming up at a distant number 18, and if the
choice is split between the two, it may prevent Surfin' Bird from
reaching number 1.  And that should make Simon Cowell happy.
