Caught the tail end of the local midday news just now, when they announced that the next news is going to be the 10:00 news on Sunday evening. This station, in particular, has a history of not producing news on the holiday itself, but the evening of Christmas Eve and most of Boxing Day are new to me. (And this is not one of the network affiliates that will have football pre-empting its early evening news on Sunday, so even that is discretionary.) Are budgets really getting that tight?
For comparison, one other station is producing everything they normally would other than the Saturday morning show. Neither of the other two do weekend morning news, but one is producing news on Christmas night and the other isn't. -- David J. Lynch [email protected] -- TV or Not TV .... The Smartest (TV) People!
