Oh come on now, I found the show's expert -- Dr. Daniel Jackson -- to be very compelling, though nobody has heard from him since he was recruited by the Air Force a few years ago. Your kid might like the "Engineering An Empire" installment on the pyramids. It was hosted by Peter Weller, still overacting to compensate for the lack of acting he did as Robocop, but aside from his bad acting, it is a very visual and compelling look at the development of pyramids over the years.
