I've seen all but the final episode (eight in total). As a travel documentary, it isn't much, but as an elaborate practical joke, it is awesome. In the process, Karl Pilkington did manage to broaden his horizons. He got to observe and experience things few have. And aside from the staged kidnapping, he wasn't put through anything traumatic. What makes the series work is his perspective. Karl sees things with the wonder of a child, even if he doesn't understand or even like the things he sees. He has no filter and holds nothing sacred, which doesn't make him disrespectful -- quite the contrary, it makes him open to almost anything. I liked the series, as I've liked the podcasts and "audiobooks" featuring Ricky, Stephen, and Karl. But I concede it is not for everyone. I suppose it is Ricky abusing Karl, but there is more substance to "An Idiot Abroad" than the podcasts -- there is something IN ADDITION to the abuse. -- Kevin M. (RPCV) -- TV or Not TV ....
