While there was an audience (in part because George Clinton and P-Funk
performed), C-Ferg spent the bulk of the hour with Cornel West in a manner not
unlike his audience-free hour with Stephen Frye from last year. In the cold
open, Ferguson noted that the robot and the horse were taking the night off.
The audience generally behaved themselves compared to regular shows.

This particular episode managed to get some publicity from CBS. While I have
no
doubt that the Tutu appearance (and the Peabody) influenced CBS's decision to
send out advance copies of the interview, being taped in advance (Ferguson's
wife gave birth on Monday) probably had a lot to do with it.

I felt it was a good show, but since West has been on once before, I kind of
knew what to expect. Those who hadn't seen West with Craig before may well
have
been more impressed, at least with the noted difference from typical late night
vulgar lounge entertainment.
