This is exactly why we have broadcast television in this country. Even when we had a president I did not respect or agree with, who started a needless and disastrous war I did not support, I always watched his speeches about it. He is the president, making his case to the people about just about the most important thing a president does in the people's name. What exactly is more important than that? A more sane nation would give the president, and then maybe a two congressional leaders from each party, a half an hour each week in prime time to talk to the country about whatever the pressing issues of the day are.
