Without getting into the merits of P&R (I am a fan, and it has steadily improved), I think that is different from the claim being made by AI fans in the wake of the loss of one of their favorites. People who liked AI the first few years may say something like "this show sucks, I am not going to watch it anymore" with credibility. But fans who say "If they vote X off I am never going to watch it again" are like the millions of sports fans who say if their league goes on strike/lock-out, or makes any number of changes, they are going to stop watching/attending. These claims almost never hold water. If you are a fan, you are a fan, and you are not going to stop watching just to punish the show.
