Along with partner Bob Carroll, Jr., Ms. Davis wrote or co-wrote virtually every television script Lucille Ball ever did on her five series--Lucy required that Ms. Davis be able to perform any bit of physical comedy that the writers came up with, which didn't keep Ms. Davis from handing Lucy some challenges over the years:
