Tribune Broadcasting's CW affil KIAH in Houston, already the home of anchorless newscasts, is starting next week an attempt at a younger- skewing morning show called "Eye-Opener," featuring a knife- brandishing (at least in the promos) female host called an "uber- journalist" (even though she's a drama grad from Indiana U. and presumably has taken improv classes at Second City or iO in Chicago)-- since the show originates from Chicago's Tribune Tower (not WGN's Northwest Side studios) with local news, weather and traffic inserts from Houston, one assumes that the Trib is testing this for their owned stations (even though the laughing-and-scratching so-called "Morning News" on KTLA in LA and WGN seem to be doing well in the ratings):
