The surprise here is that "The Sing-Off" is getting a longer run. It happens to be my favorite reality talent comp because I'm an a capella lover (and it has less of the reality show annoyances), but one of the good things about it was that it was five eps and gone. I hate to think how they're going to have to money around with the format for a longer season. Their other problem now is finding a replacement for Nicole Schzeringer (who is going to "X Factor")--at least Ben Folds, the one indispensible judge, isn't leaving, so they can just get another hot babe singer for her seat. > TUESDAY > 8-10 p.m. – “The Biggest Loser” > 10-11 p.m. – “Parenthood” > > WEDNESDAY > 8-8:30 p.m. – “UP ALL NIGHT” > 8:30-9 p.m. – “FREE AGENTS” > 9-10 p.m. -- “Harry’s Law” > 10-11 p.m. -- “Law & Order: Special Victims Unit” > After CBS moved their other sitcom block to Thursday, we have competition for ABC's LaughOn. > THURSDAY > 8-8:30 p.m. – “Community” > 8:30-9 p.m. -- “Parks and Recreation” > 9-9:30 p.m. – “The Office” > 9:30-10 p.m. – “WHITNEY” > 10-11 p.m. – “PRIME SUSPECT” Excuse me, but hasn't NBC said that Comedy Night Done Right means no laugh tracks? Then what is the multi-cam "Whitney" doing on Thursday night? AFAIK, both Wednesday night sitcoms are one-camera--how about flipping one of them with Whitney and keeping Comedy Night Done Right to its standards? > FRIDAY > 8-9 p.m. – “Chuck” > 9-10 p.m. – “GRIMM” > 10-11 p.m. – “Dateline NBC” Glad to see NBC dong scripted shows on Friday night, even if the "Chuck" fanboiz are going to whine, whine, whine. > SATURDAY > Reruns (NBC language excised) > > SUNDAY > 7- 8:15 p.m. -- "Football Night in America" > 8:15-11:30 p.m. -- "NBC Sunday Night Football" > > NBC 2012 MID-SEASON HIGHLIGHTS > *New programs in UPPER CASE; all times ET) > > SUNDAY > 7-8 p.m. – “Dateline NBC” > 8-10 p.m. – “The Celebrity Apprentice” > 10-11 p.m. – “THE FIRM” > > MONDAY > 8-10 p.m. – “The Voice” > 10-11 p.m. – “SMASH” NBC seems to think that CBS and ABC might be weakening on Monday (correct in the former, I think, wrong in the latter)--"The Voice" could be a factor (and sweep up the Spielberg musical show "Smash"), but when it comes to mass appeal mainstream entertainment (of which the reality talent comps are the last vestiges of which on broadcast network television), "The Sing-Off" may be too much of an offbeat taste to beat "Dancing." Of course, if you had told me five years ago that the top-rated show on television would be a ballroom dancing competition, I would've demanded to know what they were smoking. -- TV or Not TV ....
