It might help to know what reasons would particularly motivate Dad J to stay
the
hell off. Randomized changes of privacy policies does it for me.

Subject: [TV orNotTV] SemiTV: seeking authoritative putdown of Facebook

Dad J expects me to enter some contest on a choc-milk bottle where I
could win up to $6000 and a trip to ESPN, but I can't get across to
him that (1) I can't text to non-std numbers with our cell service,
and (2) I don't want to join FB just to be able to enter some barely-
readable code on a bottle. What happened to just enjoying something
for its good taste?

Since he is prone to urban legends tales, I could just throw him this
opine from a web developer:
http://rield.com/faq/why-is-facebook-bad

That notwithstanding, are there well-reputed sites with well-fogged-
through reasons to stay the ____ off FB?
