And what is sad is that we all blindly accept that. The President of the United States can send thousands of troops to die in Iraq and Afghanistan, but he is powerless to act against an opposition party. Really... because the House of Representatives is more threatening than Al Queda and the Taliban? > I think it is misleading and dangerous to dismiss this crisis as a bunch of > weak politicians doing nothing. Not "a bunch" of them -- all of them. OK, technically, they do something -- they point fingers. > There is nothing dirty about being a > politician - indeed, at the root of the disastrous inflexibility in the > House is this view among populist Republicans that being a "politician" is > dishonorable, Yeah, Republicans have always been better at naming and blaming. They call politicians "fat cats" even though they could use a little Jenny Craig themselves. The honor in politics comes from service, but they haven't served anything except their own interests in quite some time. > There is no doubt that there will be a very severe consequence if these > Republicans in the House continue to do their job so poorly - unfortunately > the entire country will have to suffer it. Well let's see, ever since Bush, America is a laughing stock around the world; we are known as being morally bankrupt, and now we can be known as being economically bankrupt, too. The dollar will plummet, and interest rates will rise -- until we find another nation to declare war against (toss up among Pakistan, Iran, or N. Korea) and we can again employ people to build weapons and we can thin the population by sending them overseas to die in another pointless war. Because our government can always send good men and women away to be killed, but the economy is just too tough a nut to crack. F*ck this government. Republican. Democrat. F*ck 'em all. -- Kevin M.
