I'll have to agree with Diner.

 

Although I've never seen Wopat live on stage, I have seen him on TV.  In
particular, I remember a fine performance on The Today Show (Frank Butler in
"Annie Get Your Gun").

Wow, I must disagree there. I've seen Wopat several times onstage - most
recently in "Catch Me If You Can," his current Broadway role, where he plays
the father (the role Christopher Walken played in the movie), and I thought
he was superb. He starts out as the coolest guy in the world, his son's
idol, then degenerates into an ugly drunk, and I thought he was very
convincing. And I thought his voice was very well-suited to the jazzy
material.

 

I also saw him back in '99 as Bernadette Peters' leading man in "Annie Get
Your Gun," and, in a non-musical role, in the revival of "Glengarry Glen
Ross," where he held his own with Alan Alda, Liev Schreiber, and a top-notch
cast.
