I'll have to agree with Diner.
Although I've never seen Wopat live on stage, I have seen him on TV. In particular, I remember a fine performance on The Today Show (Frank Butler in "Annie Get Your Gun"). He starts out as the coolest guy in the world, his son's idol, then degenerates into an ugly drunk, and I thought he was very convincing. And I thought his voice was very well-suited to the jazzy material. I also saw him back in '99 as Bernadette Peters' leading man in "Annie Get Your Gun," and, in a non-musical role, in the revival of "Glengarry Glen Ross," where he held his own with Alan Alda, Liev Schreiber, and a top-notch cast. -Tim, who could never sit through an entire episode of "Dukes of Hazzard" -- TV or Not TV ....
