I'm pretty sure the "Dear Aquaman" ("Aquaman chers") bit had canned
laughter. I'm not certain, because some pieces were filmed in the studio in
LA, but the laughter in the "Aquaman" segment seemed disjointed and out of
place...even for LLS.
There was also some canned applause right after the opening titles, which
was immediately acknowledged by Craig, so that was obviously planned.
I was really digging the show. Some pieces landed, some didn't, but it had
the virtue of feeling fresh - almost guerrilla-style TV. The interview
segments with Arthur & Jean Reno had a unique feel to them - and really,
went no more off topic than Craig's usual interviews in LA. Plus, I adore
Kristen Bell - as they'd say on "Frisky Dingo", she's in the slideshow - so
that didn't hurt either. Could do with a bit less Secretariat, but I suppose
they had to justify sending 2 interns & a panto horse costume 6,000 miles...
During the cold open, did anyone else notice the sound of the TARDIS engines
as LA Craig 'threw' the Eiffel Tower model to Paris Craig? (Or was I just
overtired?)
