Well, there was a bit of building damage, including pretty bad damage to the
National Cathedral. (Yeah, what happens with buildings built before the
thought of an unstable earth was a major factor in architecture...)

The damage probably is worse the closer you are to the epicenter.  Here, all
it did was make my dad wonder if there was some construction going on...
(ironically, he lived in California for two years, but *here* he feels his
first ever earthquake).
