The problem is, he really is mentally ill, and likely at any time to implode (is this show live, or taped? Ron-Ron is capable of dropping F-bombs even in a good cause). I still can't find direct discussion of the implication for the NBA season, except it a report speculating that any deal he signed must have had contingencies in case for some reason the season (and I must assume the training camp period prior to the start of the season) begins before he is voted off the show.
