http://mediadecoder.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/09/15/ludwin-to-leave-late-night-post-at-nbc/ September 15, 2011, 6:47 pm Rick Ludwin to Leave Late Night Post at NBC By BILL CARTER One of the longest-serving network television executives, Rick Ludwin, is leaving his job as the top overseer of all NBC’s late-night programs. Mr. Ludwin, who has been at NBC for 31 years, and in charge of the late-night shows for most of that time, will be transitioned into a consulting job, an NBC executive said. The network is expected to announce the move formally late Thursday. Mr. Ludwin had been in the middle of the rocky effort to move Jay Leno to prime time and replace him at the “Tonight” show with Conan O’Brien. Mr. Leno had been unhappy with Mr. Ludwin over his role in those moves and had stopped communicating with him after he returned to “Tonight.” Succeeding Mr. Ludwin as the executive in charge of late night will be Paul Telegdy, who has been one of the network’s most successful entertainment executives in recent years, supervising its reality division. He will become president of alternative programs and late night. © 2011 The New York Times Company
