Considering that Rock Center has Williams, Harry Smith, and Meredith Vieira (who was a 60 Minutes correspondent even if she has done mostly fluff the last dozen years), it seems like they have the gravitas factor covered, although I think Vieira's also one of those part-timers who they'll bring out on occasion when they have a piece that suits her style.
Actually, this whole thing is starting to make me think that some executive at NBC or Comcast was watching 60 Minutes and thought that NBC could use a serious news magazine but realized that Dateline had done too many "To Catch a Predator" specials to qualify. -- David J.
